Biot Jars were originally used in Provence as storage jars, typically for flour, olives or oil. Their distinctive tear-drop shape has stood the test of time and the Biot Jar is now highly sought after as a decorative item. With their antique patina and with rustic glaze around the collar, Biot Jars are ideal for an entranceway or hallway, orangery, conservatory or garden room - as a planter or unplanted.
Standing in the foothills of the Cevennes, within the historic Languedoc region of France, the village of Anduze has been renowned for its pottery since the 17th century. It is from Anduze that ORNAMENTI has sourced a collection of artisan-made Biot Jars and other pottery designs. Biot Jars with a glaze are not designed for the extremes of the British climate and should be considered for interior use only, unless positioned in a garden during the summer months only.
