As an example, entirely in-house, Lapicida can scan any object, from an existing priceless statue to a classic car, and render it in 3D using sophisticated software. Then, using one of the world’s largest 5-Axis CNC Shaping Mills, the object is then shaped from a single block of stone up to 25-tonnes in weight, before being hand-finished by Lapicida master stonemasons. This service, available to all, allows our clients to realise their own designs in stone or marble. Completed projects have included bespoke stone fireplaces, statues, baths and even cars.
ORNAMENTI can also source bespoke or custom made garden and interior designs from around the world – from fine Italian terracotta to robust English leadwork. It may be a unique design that is required, or it might be an adaptation of an existing ORNAMENTI design. As well as our in-house capabilities, we also have a network of artisans across the UK and Europe who we can turn to when a unique design is required. One recent example was a major international hotel chain needing 19x custom terracotta planters, some with intricate metal supports, for a new hotel in Malaysia. Using our contacts we were able to provide a completely bespoke, turnkey solution including shipping.
Over recent years, Lapicida has increasingly worked with clients to provide bespoke art installations at prestige locations ranging from the Royal Horticultural Society’s RHS Harlow Carr Garden to Chatsworth House where Sir Christopher Le Brun’s magnificent Maro sculpture was installed.
